A photographic survey undertaken 11 June 2022. Unfortunately I did not have a copy of Mathematical Tiles in the Faversham area by Terence Paul Smith (TPS below) until later, so some sites he listed , not recognised by me, or change of house numbering since the 1970s.
Timestamp of the photos is in brackets, in case I misnamed roads or misnumbered in my notes and so gives walking time/distance between sites, to localise a bit.
Passing 70 Preston St I made a note about suspected MT but no photos , confirmed later in TPS booklet, he also has No 12. As previously an overall view of the building and features highly suggestive or evidential of MT
76 Preston St
[ 11:42 ]
6 Market St , ex Swan Inn
[ 12.02 ]
5 Market St next door, to the north, of the cafe above [12:06]
rough "brickwork"
Pugh Place ? to the rear of 15 Market St/ Market Place? , [12:12]
through the passage in this image, don't know about the front, but the rear of No 15 certainly
"tick" side profile at the green arrow and lower edges of the MT
below both the green V
122A Market St ? [12:14]
imposing oriole with a
"tick" side profile revealed next to the drain pipe ,
Vivian Stanshall must have lived next door , to have "my pink half of the drainpipe". And a slipped MT with an ornate original vent grille below that modern vent
2C ? Market Place (next to 2B other side from 2A ) [12:17]
jettied building with some badly damaged MT showing the original colour
and the sloping rear face of the one under
3, 3A Court St, Whites of Kent [12:35]
TPS also has number 8
Ask Italian, Abbey St [12:45]
One lower edge seen , above the red caret
otherwise superfluous wooden cornice/quoining and this leadwork
fixing for the downpipe and part of a MT lower edge showing
above the red caret
Abbey St [12:56]
Something iffy about the canted bays, sort of wig and tuck,
butted mitre corner joints?, perhaps not MT.
TPS lists 15,16,19, 82-84, 90,91,92,94 Abbey St, I did not note this number
92 Abbey St [13:01]
some fresh mortar fillet, not holding in the rear gap showing at
edge of a MT
82-84 Abbey St [ 13:13]
a couple of spalled tiles revealing lower edges of the MT above
some leadwork detail, going between 2 MT
Some recent sympathetic leadwork, also showing bowing of some of the MT
Phoenix Tavern 90 Abbey St [ 13:21 ]
tick side profiles exposed
69A West St [13:34]
TPS also has 123-124,5, 103, 96,33,111,6,12,20, 64 but not 69A
External corner mitre-butt joints ,not done for bricks
and the sympathetic lead downpipe fixing load spread not required for bricks, also suggesting next door is MT also
33 West St, Mechanics Arms [13:38]
side detail of the lower wedge side profile of a MT tick shape
19 1/2 West St [ 13:50]
Nothing more convincing I'm afraid , just bowing over header
length more in keeping with thin tiles than bricks and
surface smooth apearance more of engineering brick than stock brick, ie better clay puddling of MT than stock bricks
West St & Flood Lane corner [ 13:56 ]
William Property Management, the property agent inside
had no knowlege of the MT on the building. Perhaps sometime I
will find an estate agent in a building with MT that knows
something about them.
Clapboarding on east facade. Detail of leadwork and side
view of the lower wedge of the tick profile of a MT.
109 West St [13:59]
By eye a lower edge could be seen above the red caret and the lay of the lead behind but I forgot to take an over-exposed image also. And generally the thin material, bowed nature of these "headers".
12 West St [ 14:04 ]
One exposed MT wedge edge on the right side of the building
and a missing tile at the upper middle window ledge , right hand side
15 East St [ 15:09 after lunch break ]
exposed lower edge and wedge edge
20 East St, Cooksditch [ 15:12 ]
Have to take TPS word on MT as only this patch of slipped " mortarless " tiles seen
69-71 South Rd [ 15:32 ]
transition at the doorstep from red brick to "(County of) Southampton/ Bieulieu " yellow clay tiles
unfortuately the camera focussed on the shrubbery, otherwise very clear edges of MT on the left facade edge with clapboarding on side elevation
Canterbury, Kent
Timings contine on after train journey from Faversham to Canterbury East. Very few buildings had their number displayed to the street, so mainly referenced to nearby buildings.

MT probably from the mitred canted bay corners , so bay only perhaps
